Being Present, based on the title of my book, examines slowing down and drawing awareness to this moment, gently pausing to examine “what is”. What is a happening right now and what does it say about our lives onstage and off. In improvisation we tend to focus on the future moment we want to create or the past moment we second guess. What if we could be aware of the way things are and take our inspirations from the current moment that is happening, not a past or future impulse? What is happening at this moment for the improvisers, the characters, the audience, the story? And beyond that what is the snapshot of the world outside of the performance that is revealed moment by moment.
